Thanksgiving and Idaho

I apologize for waiting so long between blog posts. It has been a crazy couple of months. On November 4th, Aaron flew to Idaho Falls, Idaho to interview with a company called Sentient. They are a small engineering company and apparently they really liked him. They made him an offer on the spot and he accepted on the spot. Yep, he called me up and informed me that he had taken a job and we had 3 weeks to pack everything up and move.

To say the least, it was a really stressful month. We sold a bunch of stuff on Craigslist. We had a very successful garage sale. Actually, I'm pretty proud of the garage sale. Aaron thought we would waste a whole day and only make $75. Instead, we made $300 in a couple of hours. Then we stuck a free sign on the garage and people cleaned us out.

We packed up an entire house. Rented our old house in the middle of mesa, sold our duplexes and worked on renting our house on Bramble.

We tried to spend as much time with my sister's family as we could before we moved. Halee and I took the kids to the zoo one day.

Right before we moved to Idaho, we had Thanksgiving with my sister and her family. It was a lot of fun and we are really going to miss them.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, we packed up our kids in two cars, along with everything we needed for the next few weeks and drove the 17 hours to Idaho Falls.  We moved into a furnished place and put everything else in storage until we can find a permanent home.

The kids are enjoying living in Idaho.  They love being close to their grandparents.  They are also enjoying the novel weather.  They really enjoyed the first snowfall.  The dog on the other hand is a little cold.

 We couldn't find our snow clothes in the storage units and so we had to go and buy new ones.  I thought the kids looked pretty cute in their hats.

In other news, Sterling started school at a local school here.  He is enjoying it, but it is a little short.  He had been in full day kindergarten.  Here they only have half day and it is only 2 hours and 45 minutes long.  They don't get time to do much during class.

Avalon has learned to negotiate.  We have been having the kids pay for some of their Christmas presents for other people.  The other day, Avalon was supposed to pay $5.  Instead, she started holding up one finger and said "How about that many?"  Then she went up to two and then three.  We finally settled on four, but I was really impressed that she understood negotiating at the age of three.  Sterling still doesn't always get it.  Aaron offered him 20 cents for something a couple of days ago and Sterling told Aaron that it only cost 10 cents. 

Anyway, other than that we are busy getting ready for Christmas and trying to keep entertained in an 1100 square foot house.
