A Bad Haircut and Memorial Day

The other day while I was in the shower, Sterling cut his own hair.  He took a huge chunk out and cut it almost all of the way to the scalp.

Halee came over and cut his hair for me.

Oh and in a side note, we got rid of the lizard because it turns out that lizards carry salmonella and you shouldn't have one around a baby or a pregnant woman.  Instead we got three hermit crabs.  They haven't been as exciting as one would hope and so I can't even really take pictures of them because they bury themselves all day.  Oh well . . .

On memorial day weekend, Aaron had both Monday and Tuesday off.  So, Monday we went and checked out the new aquarium at Arizona Mills Mall. When we got there, there was a line that went all of the way around the corner and had several hundred people in it.  They were all, of course, waiting to get into the aquarium.  We headed into the mall thinking that the line might get shorter.  Instead, when we got inside we realized that there was a shorter line if you had already bought your tickets, which we had.  It was a pretty good aquarium.  It was kind of a maze that you wound your way through.
Sterling is really into starfish.  He got to touch several and was very excited about it.
The guy in this picture is holding a shark egg.  I guess some bottom dwelling sharks lay eggs.  It was hard and kind of rubbery.  Weird to touch.
There were these bubbles all over that you could stick your head up into the tanks.
The kids really like the area where you could brush sand off of fossils.  Sterling has decided that he wants to go fossil hunting.
There was a glass tunnel that you walked through where there was water all around you.  Even the floor was glass.  After the aquarium, we had lunch at the mall and did some shopping.  We ended the day with a barbeque and a trip to the pool.

On Tuesday, we took the kids to see the new Shrek.  Later that night we went to dinner and to another mall where the kids played int he play area.

It was a great weekend and we are going to miss having Aaron home.

On a few other random asides, I am very excited because I won tickets to the Barnum and Bailey circus that is coming to town.  Even if I by chance have the baby before then, the kids will get to go and they were pretty expensive tickets.

Some funny stories about Sterling recently, the other day he came in to our bedroom in the morning and climbed in between Aaron and I.  The next thing I know he says, "My stomache hurts" and throws up on the bed between us.  Now, that will get you out of bed fast.  The next night, he comes in at about 6 and says that his bum itches.  It took quite a while to get that taken care of and get him back in bed.  The night following that Aaron let him climb into bed with us in the middle of the night and he hit us all night. Then last night he came in several times during the night to tell us "good night".  To say the least, Aaron and I are very tired.  Life is a great adventure with kids.

That looks like a great aquarium. Sounds like a nice, relaxed weekend.

We went through the constant wake up with Tyler too. We finally locked the door. Sometimes he'd sleep in hall outside our door, but we got our sleep!

Sterling's haircut looks almost as good as the one I gave my sister when we were 5 and 6! Thank goodness hair grows!
