Quin's Open Heart Surgery

Quin had open heart surgery on May 15 to repair a hole in his heart.

The day before his surgery we traveled to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah to have pre-op workups done.  He did really well.  The only thing he truly hated was having his blood taken.  I have to admit that it made me woozy too.

Then on May 15, we got to the hospital bright and early for Quin's surgery.  Here is a picture of Quin all dressed in his hospital clothes.

This next picture is what Quin looked like after surgery.  According to the doctor the cutting and sewing on his heart took three times longer than normal because the hole was big on one side and small on the other side and there was extra tissue flapping around where the heart had been trying to heal itself.  The surgery was successful and his recovery is going well.

Here is a picture of Quin on Thursday morning.  He is recovering really well and is getting transferred out of the ICU.  Aaron and I have been surprised at the change in his skin color.  It is much healthier than before.

Thank you everyone for all of your prayers and offers to help.  We have been very blessed.

I have a hard time thinking about little ones being in the hospital and having surgery. So glad it went well.
