July

Where did the summer go?  I am way behind in blogging again, but it has been a great and crazy summer.

The Fourth of July is always a fun time at our house. We went to the Fourth of July parade in Rexburg with my family.  It was a fun parade.  The only problem we had was that Truman kept wandering out into the parade.  Once the parade had to stop for him and then the next time Truman just joined up with a float and ended up a block away before we realized it.  We will be lucky not to lose that child.

After the parade we had a picnic at my parent's house.  In the evening my Aunt and Uncle had a barbecue and then we all headed into Idaho Falls to watch the fireworks.

This year, the fireworks were kind of traumatic.  The fireworks were delayed because someone drowned in the river and they were trying to find him or his body.  Then, while we were waiting for the fireworks, Quin was eating crackers, when he suddenly started to choke.  He turned a horrible deep blue/black color and wasn't breathing for what seemed like forever.  Luckily, my cousin's husband who is a PA was there and he saved Quin.  It scared me to death.  I don't think I have ever been quite that scared.  Luckily, Quin is fine.  We were very blessed.

Truman turned 3 on July 5th.  He had a good birthday.   He got a big boy bike for his birthday and then we all went to Rexburg Rapids.

 My family came over in the evening for cake and ice cream and a game night.

He even got to have a slumber party with his cousins.

 

 

Avalon had Princess Camp in mid-July.  It was a three day dance class that included a tea party, princess pictures and she got a tee shirt, skirt, tiara and wand.  She had a blast.  On the last day of the camp, they had a mini-recital.

 

 



 

 

The kids also had their last session of swimming lessons in July.  They loved swimming lessons and are asking when they can take them again.

 

 

Also, in July, we visited Aaron's parents in Salem, Oregon.  Sterling and his Grandpa Russell trapped Raccoons together.

 

 

We also spent a few days on the Oregon coast.  It was very very cold, but we still had a lot of fun.  Quin loves to play in the sand.

There was a negative tide while we were there.  I guess that means that the water went out farther than normal and there was a lot of neat stuff to see.

Quin and I walked back from the beach one day to find two deer in the yard of our rental house.

Aaron and the kids flew kites on the beach.

 

There is a fun, hands on sea museum on the Oregon coast.

 Then Aaron's dad took us crabbing. 

 Aaron's parents have a pool and the kids lived in it while we were there.

We also took the kids to see the Oregon State Capital Building.

 One day while we were there, the National Guard hosted a giant basketball tournament.  We went to that and to the Saturday Farmers Market.

 

 

Sterling also finished soccer in July. All of the kids got a medal.

Quin was learning to crawl in July.  He had a really funny way of crawling.  Watch the way he twists his rear.

 

Quin also got a tooth in July which is pretty early for anyone in our family.  It is one of his front bottom teeth and he looks like a little Jack O'Lantern when he smiles.
