February and March

Life just seems to be moving faster and faster all the time.  February and March were wonderful months that went by very fast.

On February 2nd, 2014, Sterling turned 8.  On February 1, we had a birthday party for him. 

Sterling invited a bunch of kids from church, school and his basketball team.  The kids had a lot of fun.  They had relay races, ate cake, had a piñata and played with balloons.

Sterling's actual birthday was the next day.  The 2nd was Superbowl Sunday.  Sterling opened his presents earlier inn the day.

 Sterling had picked out dinosaurs to go on his cake.

 That afternoon/evening we had a Superbowl/Birthday party.  We had sandwiches, ate treats and cake and watched the game.

 

 

Sterling played on a basketball team during January and February.  Aaron was the assistant coach.  Sterling enjoyed playing.  Though, he wasn't very aggressive.

Aaron's parents sent the kids a Valentine's Day package.  They were very excited.

One day in February, Avalon brought a giant teddy bear named Paco home from school.  She had to take pictures and write a journal about Paco's adventures at our house.  The minute I pulled out the camera, Quin plopped himself down in front of it.

 Paco had lots of new experiences at our house.

 

 

Sometimes being a cat at our house is tough.  Yes, that is a sucker stuck to her belly.

 Quin has a bad habit of putting everything in his hair.  Notice the pink streak.  It was lipstick.

 

 

Avalon turned 6 on March 3rd.  On February 28th, we had a princess tea party to celebrate. 

We had a lot of little girls come.  It turns out that a princess tea party is a very popular event.  It was a lot of fun.  I found cheap tea cups at thrift stores (turns out disposable tea cups are more expensive than thrift store tea cups).  We had a bunch of food and lots of lemonade.  All of the little girls came dressed as princesses.  The few boys that were there also came in costume.  

 Aaron's mom did Avalon's hair and makeup.

 We started out by letting the kids decorate their own crowns.

 Then the tea party started.

 Afterwards we had a piñata.

 Then presents.

 On March 1, 2014, Sterling was baptized and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost.  We couldn't be prouder.  He was baptized by Aaron.  After his baptism, he bore his testimony. 

Lots of family attended his baptism.  I love the fact that my children have so many worthy priesthood holders to look up to. 

 

After Sterling's baptism, we had a luncheon with hot dogs and hamburgers.  We also celebrated Avalon's birthday. 

 

On Avalon's actual birthday, the following Monday, Avalon went to lunch with Aaron's parents.  We also had dinner with my parents and Aaron's parents.  She is an amazing girl and I am so proud of her.







 

Avalon got a skateboard for her birthday.  She was very excited.

On St. Patrick's Day, we had a party with Halee's kids.  We finger painted, made necklaces and had treats.

 

 Avalon dyed her hair green for the occasion.

 

Sterling built a make shift tree house in my parents tree.

Sterling has been really funny lately.  The Sunday following his baptism, he bore his testimony in Sacrament meeting.  Then he bore his testimony in Primary.  Then he popped up in Primary and announced that after bearing his testimony twice in church he would say that he is "pretty comfortable with it." 

 

Also, according to an email from his school teacher, "Sterling's scores have been amazing!  He is really doing his best every day.  Yesterday, he was the only one who earned 100% on the Math test.  He asked me if he could say something to the class.  He told the class not to worry about their scores but just keep trying to do their best.  How cool is that!?"

 

He is quite the child.

 

Truman has been his funny self lately.  One day, I needed to go to the college to do a lecture.  There was a miscommunication between Aaron and I and he didn't come home to watch the kids.  I quickly took them to my mom's.  When Aaron came to get the kids, somehow Truman slipped out of the car.  Mom went to stand in the doorway to wave goodbye and Truman came down the stairs of the house.  Aaron got partway down the road before realizing that he was missing Truman.

 

Avalon is loving school and has been doing a lot of artwork lately.  She especially loves Spanish.  She has also started reading really well.

 

Quin has started climbing onto the counter.  Then he holds his hands above his head and screams.  He has also started poking me with things and then laughing when I react.  He loves to run and be chased.  He also loves to spin when the music is on.
