So my “eccentric” wife borrowed a cat from the neighbor. Yep, you read correctly, she borrowed a cat. Normal people might borrow a cup of sugar or the occasional power tool, but my wife borrows pets, and not from someone she knows that well either. She borrowed it from someone at church she just started working with.
There is some reasoning behind this odd behavior. Our battle against scorpions has been well documented. We’ve wacked over a dozen of the buggers in the past couple of weeks. After talking to the neighbor, we found out that it has been a chronic problem in this house. I’ll come back to that later.
So when you’re in a fight, and the other guy pulls a knife, you pull a gun. They put one of your guys in the hospital, you put one of them in the morgue. That is where the cat comes in. Escalation; we’re taking it to the next level. Cats are apparently impervious to the sting of our nemesis, and felines love to kill creepy crawly things in the house. Now when we go large, we go LARGE!!! Check out the size of this kitty. We were lucky enough to get a picture of it next to this fire truck.

This is the largest cat I have ever seen. This is the substance of monster movies set in Tokyo. This cat had to have been part of a secret government experiment or bitten by a radioactive spider or something. I have no idea if this cat can actually kill scorpions, but if I was them, I would be quaking in my boots.
Back to the history of the house. We hadn’t seen scorpions in our house until recently, so we though we may have brought them in from some boxes we picked up at girl’s camp. When we talked to the neighbor, we found out we were sadly mistaken. When we bought the house, from an upstanding, active high priest, they told us they have never had a scorpion problem. They signed documents saying they never saw a scorpion on the premises. The neighbor said she had many conversations about how bad the scorpions were in our house. We are furious! Tallie would never have consented to buying the house had we known. We are still trying to find out what, if anything we are going to do about it.

Sorry to hear about the scorpions, but I think Tallie is smart for "borrowing" a cat. That way, when the cat becomes more of a nuisance than the scorpions, at least you can give it back.
Do you still have YOUR cat? If not, what happened to it?
My brother's family bought a house that has a scorpion problem. They have scorpion people come out every month to spray or whatever the scorpion people do. Plus, they use their black light in their backyard a lot.
I hope you get your problem fixed soon!!!
